Bhopal: Parents of martyrs to get 40% of honorarium


Bhopal: Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has announced at Shaheed Diwas programme on Tuesday that the 60 per cent of the honorarium of Rs 1 crore given to martyrs by the state government will be given to the legal heir of the martyr while 40 per cent will be given to the parents of the martyr so that they can spend rest of their lives with dignity.

Parents of martyrs will also be provided a pension of Rs 5000 per month by the government. Martyr’s successor will be given a job, flat and a residential plot. Chouhan said that public roads, squares and sites will be named after martyrs and their statues will be put up in schools and public places. CM honoured 119 martyrs of Bhind district on the day.

Chouhan said that the state would maintain the tradition of honouring their families. Thirty thousand jawans have laid down their lives to protect the country’s borders and in encounters with terrorists after independence. Among these, 602 martyrs of MP alone have been listed. Of these, the most of the martyrs belong to Bhind, Morena and Gwalior district.


Minister of State Lalsingh Arya, chief secretary BP Singh, DGP Rishi Kumar Shukla besides relatives of martyrs were present on the occasion. In a separate programme organised in the state capital, cooperative minister Vishwas Sarang, MP Alok Sanjar and MLAs felicitated family members of the martyrs in Ravindra Bhawan.

Family members of martyrs from Bhopal district who worked for the army, CRPF and the police were felicitated. Nirmala Sharma mother of martyr captain Ashish Sharma, Mini Joseph wife of Major Joji Joseph and several others were present in the programme.
