The first poster of Kangana Ranaut’s Manikarnika was shared on the occasion of the 72nd Independence Day and it is just what we needed to get into the patriotic spirit. The new poster shows Kangana as the fierce warrior queen, Queen Laxmi Bai of Jhansi.

Filmmaker Krish Jagarlamudi took to social media to share the much anticipated first poster of the film. The poster is full of action and seems completely painted in a renaissance era style. Kangana’s character screams in the battlefield and her child is seen, tied to her back.

Manikarnika promises to tell a story of courage, strength, and determination, and celebrates the extraordinary story of the queen who laid down her life at the age of 30. “It’s an iconic role. I trained a lot in sword fights and horse riding. In fact after riding the horse for two days straight I got a fever. I can only imagine the strength and nerves of steel that Laxmibai had... I am nowhere close to her greatness. I have only tried my best to portray her tales of bravery,” Kangana said in a statement.

The period drama also features Atul Kulkarni as Tatya Tope, Sonu Sood as Sadashiv and Ankita Lokhande as Jhalkarbai.

The film, which was earlier supposed to release in April this year, will now hit the big screens on January 25, 2019.
