The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) officials noticed three travel bags left unclaimed near gate number two of the domestic arrival terminal. Soon they alerted the airport bomb squad and placed barricades around the bags. After a thorough search, the bomb squad personnel found nothing suspicious inside the bag, which contained only clothes. The bags were then handed over to the airport manager. 

An hour later, officials found three men identified as Mujibur (27), Asharaf (24) and Ishraf (29), all hailing from West Bengal and working as construction workers at a site on OMR in Chennai, searching for their lost baggage at the terminal. 

Following an enquiry by the CISF personnel, the three men were taken to the airport manager room. The airport manager warned them and said they must pay a fine amount of Rs 500 each. In response, the workers said that they did not have the money and claimed that even the flight tickets were brought by the building contractor. They had visited West Bengal following the death of their relative. Subsequently, the manager let them go after asking them to give an apology letter.
