School issues come up before SCPCR during hearing

During a hearing session conducted by the State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (SCPCR) on Tuesday chaired by the   chairperson of the commission Usha Negi, the representatives of the Mussoorie International School submitted an affidavit in the commission in which they stated that the flaws highlighted in the investigation reports of the education and police departments have been cleared by the school. The representatives of the school present at the hearing also gave a proposal for appointing a member from SCPCR in the functioning body of the school as is mandatory as per the rule.  The commission accepted the proposal and a member of SCPCR would be made part of managing body of the school.

Besides, a case of fake enrolment under the Right to Education (RTE)  came up before the commission. The commission directed the chief education officer to look into the matter and file FIR in such cases of enrolments.

  Further, a case of molestation against a private tuition institute was heard during the hearing and the commission said that no private institute can do activity in the schools without permission of the heads of the schools.  Besides, the commission said that the tutor provided by the school especially for the girls should be woman.

Regarding another case which was filed in the commission against a school which was taking money from a student enrolled under RTE, the commission gave instruction to the school representative to submit an affidavit on the issue.
