MYSURU: The manager of the Lakshmi Vilas Bank has lodged a complaint against three goldsmiths for allegedly caused loss to the bank to the tunes of Rs 67.67.

Between January 31, 2018 and August 6, 2018, loans worth Rs 67.67 lakh were disbursed after mortgaging gold valuables from individuals, according to the complaint filed by bank manager Narasimhan.

But the recent order by bank’s higher authorities to re-examine pledged gold of its purity on August 7 revealed that nearly 196 gold bangles that were mortgaged were fake.

The bank manager had accused goldsmiths Suresh, Saniha, and Ranganath of cheating the bank and lodged the complaint against them on August 14.

Suresh has told police that he hasn’t checked gold properly at the time of mortgaging. Vijayanagar police are probing the case.
