Indore: Rain unlikely in next two days


Indore: July proved to be driest month in last five years as city received very less rain, meteorological department said on Tuesday. Department officials said city’s average rainfall till August 14 should have been 500 mm. But Indore has recorded 398 mm of rainfall so far, which is about 6 inches less than the average.

Meanwhile, rain is unlikely to occur in next three to four days though city may receive drizzle or light showers. In absence of rain, temperature fluctuated for more than six degrees in last one week. Indore recorded maximum temperature of 24.5 degrees Celsius on August 8. The day temperature rose to 30 degrees Celsius on August 14.

Meteorological department officials said there is no system in place that can cause moderate to heavy rainfall in and around city in next 48 hours. “No pressure area has generated in Arabian Sea or Bay of Bengal,” a department officials said.  On Tuesday, city recorded maximum temperature of 30.4 degrees Celsius which was one degree above normal. The minimum temperature at 22.6 degrees Celsius was also one degree above normal.
