Rowdy lynched in Tamil Nadu

TRICHY: A 24-year-old history-sheeter was allegedly lynched by a group of people near Pattukottai in Thanjavur district of Tamil Nadu in the early hours of Monday.
The deceased has been identified as R Karthik, 23, of Santhankadu Vettikadu near Pattukottai. Several cases were pending against him at various police stations.

He had been lodged in prison under the Goondas Act and was released from prison recently after the completion of his jail term.

Karthik and his accomplice, A Danial, 24, of Santhankadu created a ruckus in the Nariyampalayam bazaar on late Sunday night. Some people who were in the bazaar asked them to leave the place.

However, without listening to their advice, Karthik and Daniel brought their friends and started to abuse those who intervened. At one point, the residents got angry over their atrocities and allegedly started to attack them with stones and logs .

All the accomplices managed to flee from the spot. But Karthik and Daniel could not escape.

Karthik, who suffered injuries in the attack, died on the spot. Daniel, who too suffered injuries, was admitted to Government Medical College Hospital in Thanjavur.

On being informed, the Pattukottai police rushed to the spot. They sent the body to Medical College Hospital in Thanjavur for postmortem.

The police registered a case against people who attacked the duo.
