Revealed! The cleanest railway station in Mumbai, and it’s not CSMT


The railway ministry, yesterday, released the third party survey report on station cleanliness. Among the cleanliest railway station, Mumbai’s Bandra is the only railway station from Mumbai to make it to the top 10 list of ‘Swachh Rail, Swachh Bharat’ survey. The station has grabbed 7th position in the list among 407 in India. To note, in 2016 Bandra were at 60th spot and last year it took massive leap by making it to the 15th spot.

The other Mumbai railway stations which get mentioned in the list are, CSMT at 13, Mumbai Central at 40, Dadar of Central Railway at 49, Thane at 57 and Kalyan at 74. Only 8 of 34 stations from Central Railway and 4 from 28 on Western Railway managed to get a place in top 100. Interestingly, for the 2nd consecutive year, Western Railway (WR) has bagged the 5th spot, while Central Railway (CR) has dropped five places to 8th position among 16 zonal railways.

Meanwhile, Rajasthan’s Jodhpur and Marwar railway stations were declared the cleanest in the third cleanliness survey. Jodhpur has topped in A1 station category. Jaipur is at number two and Tirupati in Andhra Pradesh is placed at number three. In A category stations, Marwar in Rajasthan topped the list, followed by Phulera, also in Rajasthan, at number two, and Warangal in Telangana at number three.
