Ranchi dist admin prepares list of erring children's homes

The district administration has asked Social Welfare department to shut down seven children's homes here, including one run by Missionaries of Charity which was recently in the for illegal sale of babies.

The list of Ranchi-based children's homes for registration cancellations was prepared after a host of infractions were take into account, like violation of juvenile justice norms, poor infrastructure and no proper building, said District Social Welfare

Other than Nirmal Hriday of Missionaries of Charity, the other six children's homes are -- Lok Vikas, Maharshi Valmiki Viklang Anath Seva Ashram, Anchal Shishu Ashram, Diya Seva Sansthan, Adim Jati Seva Mandal and EDIASS, the said.

The alleged selling of babies at Missionaries of Charity, Ranchi, came to limelight in June this year. Ray ordered on June 22 a probe into the matter, she said.

The district administration sent recommendations to the social welfare department after the probe was launched into the children's homes case, she said.
