Aishwarya Rai was asked how she stays so svelte at 44 and she offers a smart advice

When it comes to the power of Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s personality, it remains unparalleled. She has weathered abuse in a relationship and fat-shaming post motherhood and only emerged stronger. Today as a loving wife and a doting mother to her 6-year old daughter Aaradhya, Aishwarya is admired by many across the globe.

One of the talking points in her life has been her striking beauty. The fact is, at 44, she stands out for her near-perfect beauty. In a recent interview with Indian Express, the actor was asked about cosmetic surgery. Her reply was an exposition of common sense and smartness.

She said that cosmetic surgery is a reality in modern times and no one should be judged for it. However, she added that those who opt for it ought to make an informed choice. She was quoted as saying: “We can’t sit on a high horse and give any kind of advice like ‘you don’t need to do this.’ Many people have the best bodies, but they are taking supplements. And then there is a whole debate on supplements – should they or shouldn’t they? Just make informed choices. There are medical practitioners, take their advice. You should know the science before making any choices.”

She was also asked about how she manages to have such a svelte figure despite hardly ever exercising. She believed the reason of it is that she is blessed with a good metabolic rate but believes she ought to do some yoga now. “Honestly, I am grateful for the metabolism so far. I am active. I am not lazy. I am a worker so if in that sense (if) something burns off. So far I have been fortunate but I think I should do a little bit of yoga.”

Among the many things Aishwarya spoke of was pay parity. It may be recalled that much before pay parity became a talking point, it was Aishwarya who was among the first female actors to expect the same remuneration as her male co-stars in early 2000s, in keeping with her status as an international celebrity and her foray into Hollywood projects like Bride & Prejudice. At that time it was considered audacious and cost her some big tickets projects too.

She said: “I will say to you I did walk away from a lot of work. If people were like, ‘It is tough to set up the project with you and these big male leads because it just throws up the budget of the entire film’ and I am like, ‘all right, then you decide. If that’s replaceable then that’s cool.’”
