NEW DELHI: Chinese smartphone maker Huawei is all set to unveil its next generation Kirin 980 processor at the upcoming technology trade show IFA 2018. It will be the first 7nm chipset to launch in the market. Recently, it was reported that Huawei’s CEO confirmed that Kirin 980 will be first ever chipset of the company made using 7nm fabrication.

Some earlier rumours revealed details of Kirin 980. A Chinese online publication shared some benchmarking screenshots of Huawei Kirin 980. As per the benchmark tests, the Kirin 980 is expected to come with an octa-core CPU in which four cores will be of Cortex A77 and four cores will be of Cortex A55.

The test results highlighted that the A77 cores clocked at the speed of 2.8 GHz, while the speed levels of Cortex A55 are not known. Along with this, the RAM listed online is LPDDR4X with Mali-G72 MP24 GPU. This GPU is said to be more powerful and 1.5 times faster when compared to Adreno 630 GPU.

The Adreno 630 GPU is used by chipset maker Qualcomm for its high-end processors such as the Snapdragon 845. The benchmark listing also revealed that the processor will consist of second-generation NPU. This means that it will be capable of delivering AI features just like the Snapdragon 845. The processor is also expected to support triple ISP which fastens the process of image processing.

The company has already shared invites for its event on August 31 in Berlin. At the event the company is expected to launch Kirin 980 along with its flagship Huawei Mate 20 and Huawei Mate 20 Pro devices. Both the devices are expected to be powered by Kirin 980 processor.
