Issue, renewal of arms license to go online in Assam from Oct

The Police will start processing of requests for issue and renewal of arms license through an from October this year, a senior police officer said today.

Under Crime and Criminal Tracking Network & Systems (CCTNS) project, Police has recently rolled out a mobile application to register complaints and is planning to introduce other services in it within December 2018.

"We are developing the arms license module, which will be integrated with e-District application on real time basis. The request will be submitted to the district SPs and subsequently to police stations for submission of time bound police verification report," of Police (CID) told here.

The arms license issue and renewal is handled by the office of the in the districts and is working completely on manual process, he said.

"With the coming into force from October, the time consumption will go down drastically in each request. This service is being developed to improve the efficiency of the system," Jha said.

In the coming months, the app will offer services like verifications of tenant or employee or domestic help, requests for procession or rally protest or strike or event, foreigner registration and vehicle enquiry, he added.

"We will also introduce the lost and found property module for the public, possibly within this month. This will enable citizens to submit the lost and found property items to police. The applicant will receive an acknowledgement in as well as upon submission of request," Jha said.

In another major development, the plans to launch a digital platform for submission of time bound accident information report (Form 54) by police to Motor Accident Claim Tribunal (MACT) Court in the next one year.

"The portal will enable inter-department communication for submission of various types of requisition and reports between the stakeholders -- police, transport department, FSL, court and hospitals. This will enable digital record keeping and improve efficiency as well as transparency," Jha said.

He informed that after signing of the contract with a company, the DPR will be prepared within two months, while the pilot of the project is likely to be ready by December 2018.
