Want A Veyron? You’re In Luck – Mecum Will Auction Four In Monterey

There’s little doubt that the Chiron represents a major advancement over the Veyron it replaced in technology, performance, and just about any other metric you care to measure them by. But with the order books full and a price tag that dwarfs its predecessor’s, getting your hands on one could be a big of a challenge, to say the least.

So what’s an interested buyer to do if he or she is bent on getting a Bugatti, and has “only” one or two million to spend? Look to the second-hand market, of course. And there are no less than four coming up for sale at Mecum’s Monterey auction this month.

Chief among them is a silver 2015 Vitesse roadster. That’s the version with the 1,184-horsepower (880 kW) engine from the Veyron Super Sport and the removable roof panel from the Grand Sport. This was the 74th of only 150 made, with 1,526 miles (2,456 km) on the odometer, and is expected to fetch $2-2.2 million when the gavel drops.

Too rich for your blood? Try the black and red Grand Sport – a 2012 roadster with 987 horsepower (736 kW) and 850 miles (1,368 km) on the clock. It’s estimated to go for $1.7-1.8 million.

If that’s still too pricey, there’s a gold two-tone 2008 Veyron coupe on offer as well, with the (relatively) lower-output engine, yet well-driven with 7,975 miles (12,834 km) on it and a $1-1.1 million estimate.

The rarest example of all, though, is the black 2010 Veyron – the only one of the dozen Sang Noir editions made with a red interior. Showing 3,401 miles (5,473 km), it’s valued at $1.7-1.8 million.

All four will sell to the highest bidders at the Hyatt Regency on the Del Monte Golf Course in Monterey late next week. There’ll be other hypercars on offer as well, including a Lamborghini Centenario, Pagani Huayra, Porsche 918 Spyder, McLaren P1, and not one, but two LaFerraris. So, bring your checkbook, and don’t forget to budget a little (okay a lot) extra for gas, tires, and insurance.
