Indian Army today said that its troops gunned down two Pakistani soldiers in a calibrated operation in Tangdar Sector along Line of Control (LoC) in frontier Kupwara district in Jammu & Kashmir, last night.

Defence spokesman said that Army avenged the killing of a soldier Pushpendra Singh of Mathura, Uttar Pradesh who was killed in an encounter with armed infiltrators in Tangdar sector last night.

He added that last night action was “in retaliation to unprovoked ceasefire violations and repeated attempts to facilitate infiltration by Pakistan Army in Tangdar sector.”

Meanwhile, Army today said that Pakistani troops again violated ceasefire by targeting Indian Army’s posts with small arms along the LoC in Tangdar Sector early this morning. The intermittent exchange of fire is continuing till now.

The soldiers manning these posts befittingly returned the fire. However, there was no report of immediate loss of life or injury from the spot.
