Modi has damaged national economy: Anand Sharma

Senior Congress leader and former Union Minister Anand Sharma on Monday alleged that the BJD and the BJP are aligned internally only to protect their party interests.

“The BJD’s support to the NDA’s Rajya Sabha Deputy Chairman candidate shows the relationship Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has with the NDA and BJP leaders. It is a ‘give and take’ relationship between them. The BJD now wants that the proposal of formation of an Odisha Legislative Council is cleared by the Centre at the earliest,” said Sharma.

He alleged that the national economy has been severely damaged during the last four years of the Narendra Modi Government.

“The national economy has weakened and the GDP has gone down for Modi’s reckless decisions and Rafale fighter deal scam,” Sharma told a Press conference here.

He claimed the investments have shrunk by six per cent and industrial production, manufacturing and trade have almost collapsed. The “ill-timed” and “ill-conceived” moves have unleashed “economic anarchy” in the country and benefited a few, he said.

He demanded a probe to know “how many people have bought more than Rs 1 crore of foreign currency and bullion”.

He also accused PM Modi of betraying the youths as his Government, which had promised 10 million jobs a year, has not only failed to create jobs but is responsible for destroying millions of jobs by irresponsible and wrong policies.
