High Court passes interim order

Hyderabad High Court on Tuesday passed an interim order suspending the externment of Swamy Paripoornananda from city.

The police commissionerates of Hyderabad, Cyberabad and Rachakonda recently issued orders externing Paripoornananda from the State capital. On July 11, Swamy was detained in Hyderabad and sent back to Kakinada in AP. Police cited provocative speeches made by Swamy at different parts of the State as the reasons for his externment. Swamy filed a writ petition challenging the externment orders of the three commissionerates. Presenting arguments on behalf of Swamy, senior lawyer D. Prakash Reddy said the three commissionerates, which had issued externment orders, stated that he had made provocative speeches in Karimnagar and Adilabad earlier.

But none of the three commissionerates had any jurisdiction over the two districts. He contended that the Swamy did not fit into any category of persons for externment under Telangana Prevention of Anti-Social and Hazardous Activities Act, which was invoked against him. Two days before externing Swamy, police had externed film critic Kathi Mahesh from Hyderabad. He too filed a writ petition, which is pending before the High Court.
