HYDERABAD:A businessman was caught for being in possession of 31 grams of
cocaine at Jubilee Hills on Sunday night. As he was driving on Road Number 36, Jubilee Hills, prohibition and excise sleuths intercepted his car and recovered the contraband from him. Subsequently, he was arrested.
Prohibition and excise sleuths said Abdul Hameed, a native of
Adilabad district and a resident of Chintal Basthi, was travelling on Road Number 36, Jubilee Hills, and his vehicle was stopped by the enforcement wing officials during vehicle checking. They found 31 sachets of cocaine with him.
“During investigation, Hameed confessed he got cocaine from one Max of Goa. Hameed, who is a travel agent, used to send people on tour packages to places like Goa, Ooty and other areas. In Goa, he came in contact with Max and started smuggling cocaine from Goa to Hyderabad,” the enforcement officials said.
Officials said they had collected data of persons who were purchasing the contraband from Hameed. The accused has been selling the drug to addicts at the rate of ₹6,000 per gram. He jotted down only nick names of his customers, which forced the investigation agency to probe antecedents of the customers. Hameed was booked under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropics Substances (NDPS) Act.
