Surge in Diarrhoea cases, DC visits affected areas

In view of the rising diarrhoea cases in the district, Bokaro Deputy Commissioner MK Barnwal urged people to avoid keeping their surroundings filthy and keep their nearby areas clean. He asked the masses to drink boiled water and take freshly cooked food, drain the sprouts, sprinkle bleaching powder around the ponds, wells and hand pumps, he said. 

“If anyone finds any kind of indication about diarrhoea, please inform the local hospital as well as the administration too,’” he said.

The DC, accompanied with, a team recently visited the affected areas under Chas and Chandankariyari and directed the doctors to keep the medicines, such as saline water, ORS powder, Metronidazole tablets including other needful things always available in the affected village. He also asked the hospitals to be ready to deal with diarrhoea.

Two birhor youths (one male and one female were reported to have succumbed to diarrhoea within past few days at Dumrivihar under Gomia block of the district.

“Due to the shortage of drinking water in several villages, people are forced to drink contaminated water from ponds without boiling, which creates the bigger problem,” said a health official.

District health department officials suggested the villagers to be extra vigilant while taking any food including water. Meanwhile, the district health department assured to organise a health camp soon at the village.

Its worth mentioning that several villages under Chas, Chandankyari, Kasmar, Gomia, Bermo, Petarwar, Chandrapura and Nawadih falls into the grip of gastroenteritis and diarrhea each and every year with the starting of rainy seasons.
