Altogether 10 persons were arrested from North Andaman island on suspicion of being Bangladeshis illegally residing in India using fake documents, police said today.
The 10 persons, all men, were arrested from Diglipur area yesterday evening, Diglipur police station SHO Mahesh Yadav said.
Diglipur is a tourist spot around 325 km from here.
"The arrested persons claimed that they were from West Bengal. They had shown documents such as ration cards and voter cards but they are fake," Yadav said.
They would be brought to Port Blair from North Andaman, he said.
