Essential commodities and other relief materials worth about ₹ 31.3 lakh provided by the government departments and other organisations were despatched to the flood-hit Kannur and Wayanad districts of Kerala on Tuesday.
The District Rural Development Agency (DRDA) provided essential commodities, utensils, bedsheets and dress materials worth ₹ 25 lakh for the affected people.
The Food Safety Department provided utensils, bread, biscuits, buckets, mugs and school bags worth ₹ 4.25 lakh.
The Small Savings agents provided relief materials worth ₹ one lakh and the revenue staff unions articles worth € 1.05 lakh.
The Seva Bharathi in the city despatched about ₹ two lakh worth goods such as water bottles, towels, mats, bedsheets, rice and sugar.
District Collector Rohini R. Bhajibhakare despatched all the goods to Wayanad and Kannur districts by lorries in the evening. Some goods were despatched by train.
Ms. Bhajibhakare said that the district administration will open a relief materials collection centre at the Collectorate.
