Lack of funds to see Kings target take Paarl Boys' job?

2018-08-13 13:51

Cape Town - Eastern Province are reportedly keen on securing the services of former Pumas coach Brent Janse van Rensburg.

But, according to a report on Die Son website, the PRO14 franchise has some competition on its hands.

While Janse van Rensburg is being tipped as the next possible General Manager of Eastern Province, prominent Cape school Paarl Boys' High are also understood to be keen on signing the 38-year-old.

The report adds that the school is in a stronger position than EP, given that they are financially more stable than the Kings, and are reported to be offering double what EP can scrape together, salary-wise.

Former Junior Springbok coach Dawie Theron, Peter Engledow (Griquas) and Paarl Boys High assistant Andre Tredoux are also reportedly on the shortlist to coach the school side, while Thando Manana is another candidate being considered as an option at EP.

Janse van Rensburg is currently unemployed, having left the Pumas last week, while Paarl Boys are in search of a replacement for Sean Erasmus who is leaving to join the Lions.

EP will play in the Currie Cup First Division again this year, with their opening clash on Saturday, August 25 against the Boland Cavaliers.
