Agencies, Guna, MP, Placing the principal-opposition Congress in the cross-hairs, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan today said that the party that ruled that state for 50 years are now demanding accounts for 15 years.
Mr Chouhan made the statement while addressing the Jan Ashirwad Yatra at Mayana that comes under Guna parliamentary constituency – represented by senior Congress leader Jyotiraditya Scindia in the Lok Sabha.
“The condition of the state had deteriorated under the rule of then chief minister Digviajaya Singh from 1993 to 2003 and lacked basic amenities such as road, electricity and water. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) came to power in 2003 and brought the state out of ‘Bimaru’ tag,” he said.
Lambasting at Congress leaders for doing nothing during their tenure but now demanding accounts, Mr Chouhan said that he was providing account of his work to public and seeking their blessings. He said tha the BJP would remind public of the condition prior to 2003 while delineating about official schemes. The Congress would be made to bite the electoral dust yet again.
Earlier, Mr Chouhan’s Jan Ashirwad Yatra entered Guna District from Rajgarh’s Bioara. His Yatra was welcomed by party workers and public at several places.
“The Jan Ashirwad Yatra is drawing huge crowds. The regime has the blessing of every section of society. The only objective of the government is to serve society,” he said.
Launching a scathing attack on the Congress for describing him as ‘nalayak (unworthy)’ and ‘madari (juggler)’, the Chief Minister said that Congress leaders are making disparaging remarks and it exposed their true face.
