St. Louis - Brandon Stone was the best performing South African golfer at this past weekend's 100th PGA Championship at Bellerive Country Club.

Stone, who started with a four-under par 66 in Thursday's opening round, fired three consecutive two-under par 68s to finish tied for 12th and eight-under par for the tournament, eight shots behind winner Brooks Koepka from America.

Branden Grace finished tied for 27th at six-under par, while Dylan Frittelli ended tied for 31st on five-under par.

Charl Schwartzel, who was within four shots of Koepka at the end of Saturday's third round, shot a disappointing five-over par 75 in Sunday's final round to finish three-under and tied for 42nd.

Justin Harding failed to make the cut for the weekend, while Louis Oosthuizen pulled out shortly before the start of the tournament with a back injury.

South African-born Johan Kok also participated as one of the PGA club pros but failed to make the cut.
