(Warning: This post contains spoilers from the Season 2 finale of Claws. Read at your own risk.)

At its core, Claws is a bombastic tale of drugs, manicures and the unbreakable bond between five female friends trying to survive a perilous criminal world that constantly underestimates their value. However, that phenomenal friendship, which has delivered some of the show's brightest moments, may have been irrevocably altered in Sunday's jaw-dropping finale with the potential death of one of their own.

Season 2 ended on a major shocker when Virginia (Karrueche Tran) took a bullet for Desna (Niecy Nash) after a pair of masked motorists opened fire on the unsuspecting duo. The episode came to a close with a frantic Desna calling for help while cradling Virginia's limp body; her fate remains up in the air.

While things aren't looking too optimistic for Virginia, there's still hope that she may survive the surprise attack. After all, this is the same show which saw Roller miraculously survive being shot in the chest at point-blank range. So if he can live through all that and his boat exploding in the middle of the ocean, there's no reason to think that a few stray bullets are enough to take down Virginia for good. If we've learned anything from the past two seasons, it's that nothing is ever what it seems.

That couldn't have been more apparent through Desna's relationships with Zlata (Franka Potente), leader of the Russian mafia who preached female empowerment while secretly plotting Desna's murder, and Desna's fiancé Ruval (Jimmy Jean-Louis), a charming doctor who turned out to be a drug lord also out to kill Desna. They both gave Desna hope for a better life and they both nearly destroyed her with their betrayal.

But after pulling herself together -- with some help from her girls, of course -- it was Desna who turned the tables, teaming up with Zlata to take out Ruval and then joining forces with the FBI to get a confession out of the feisty Russian gangster. And when Zlata was ready to send Desna into the afterlife, it was her brother Dean (Harold Perrineau) who came to her rescue and took out the Russian mob boss once and for all. It's those surprising twists and turns that make this show such an exhilarating and addictive experience. Even when the impossible happens, it somehow makes perfect sense.

The fallout left Desna's nail salon under police control but after cooperating with the authorities, she got to walk away a free woman. Up until the episode's final moments, things were finally looking up for Desna. She finally stood up to Uncle Daddy (Dean Norris) and took control of the criminal network she'd previously been a pawn in. Plus, she inherited a casino from Ruval, securing her status as the boss of this whole operation.

It's unclear what will happen when Claws returns for Season 3 but we're crossing our fingers that Virginia makes it through. The show just wouldn't be the same without her bold, trendy outfits and vibrant personality. And after everything she and Desna have been through, it's time for them to finally get that big win. We need that. They need it.

Other thoughts and burning questions:

So who's behind the hit on Desna? Is it Uncle Daddy or the remaining members of the Russian mafia?

How long will Bryce and Jen stay on the straight-and-narrow in Tampa before being pulled back into the drug game?

Quiet Ann and that sexy wedding bartender are my new OTP. Where is their extended scene together?

Who thinks Uncle Daddy murdered Bryce and Roller's father?

When the heck does Season 3 premiere and why isn't it tomorrow?!
