Estranged woman gang-raped by three in Jajpur

An estranged woman was allegedly gang-raped by three men at Panikoili in Jajpur district on Saturday evening on the promise of providing a job by the accused.

According to reports, the woman of the Kuakhia area was staying at Brahmabarada here after getting separated from her husband.

On Saturday evening, she had come to meet one of her relatives in Korei to seek a job for herself.

After she got off the bus at Panikoili, the three accused, identified as Rabindra Malik, Lala Malik and Honey Rout, approached her and convinced her to go with them as they promised her to provide a job at a vehicle showroom.

However, the trio allegedly gangraped the woman whole night and then dumped her on road.

They also looted Rs 8,000 from her and threatened her not to disclose the matter to anyone.

Spotting the woman crying on roadside, locals informed the Korei police, following which cops reached the spot and rescued her. She was later sent for medical examination.

Probing into the incident, police arrested Rabindra Malik while two other accused were yet to be held till last reports came in.
