Burglars broke into a house at Kushalnagar here on Saturday and decamped with jewellery and cash.
The police have begun investigations following a complaint lodged by Nafeesath, a resident of Ittammal. The complaint said the burglars had looted 105 sovereign of gold ornaments, belonging to her daughter-in-law Sulfana, and cash of ₹35,000. The investigations are led by Sub-Inspector A. Santhoskumar.
The complaint said the burglary may have been committed between late Saturday and Sunday evening.
The burglars are suspected to have gained entry to the house through the rear door and looted the valuables kept in a specially designed locker. Dog squad and fingerprint experts visited the house.
