Seven Pahadia teenagers rescued from trafficker

Pakur police have arrested a human trafficker and freed seven teenaged youths belonging to the Pahadia tribal community in a raid conducted on Sunday morning. Police are carrying out further raids in several places including the Farrakka in neighboring West Bengal to arrest other member of gang involved in crime.

The rescued boys are namely Rama Pahadia (12), Sanjay Pahadia (13), Gimi Pahadia (15), Lokwa Pahadia (13), Lalu Pahadia (14), Lamda Pahadia (15) and Sonia Pahadia (13). They boys are different places namely Gaupada and Bada Basko villages in the district.

Police informed that the human trafficker Sanjeev Kumar Pal, a resident of Amrapada-Pokharia road had kept all seven boys in his house on the promise that he would get them job at a wage of Rs 10,000 per month. Pal had planned to take all the boys to Gaziabad on Sunday night.

The Pakur SP Shailendra Barnwal informed that after receiving a tip off he formed a team under the officer-in-charge of Amrapada police station to carry out the raids. He added police have received vital clues from the arrested accused.

“We have got names of the members of the gang involved in the crime and carrying out raids to nab them,” Pakur SP said. He added that human traffickers were exploiting the economic problems of Pahadia tribe and luring youths in the name of providing them job.
