Unit inaugurated in city, 12 more to be set up in district

Industries minister N. Amarnatha Reddy on Sunday said Anna canteens were fulfilling the dream of N. T. Rama Rao of providing hygienic good to the poor.

Speaking to reporters at the inauguration of a canteen at the Industrial Training Institute junction on the Puttur highway here, Mr. Reddy said that according to a survey, everyone was was happy with the quality and functioning of the canteens.

Appealing to the poor to avail themselves of breakfast, lunch and dinner at a subsidised cost of ₹15, he said, “The dream of late N. T. Rama Rao to provide hygienic food to the poor had come true with the concerted efforts of the Chandrababu Naidu government, with had opened the canteens. More canteens would be set up all over the State.”

Moreover, Collector P. S. Pradyumna said in addition to the newly opened canteen, 12 more would would be set up, while four were ready in the district.

Chittoor MP N. Siva Prasad, MLA D. A. Satyaprabha and TDP district president P. Nani were present.
