Nagpur: Eleven students of Avishkar Kala Sanstha (AKS) struck the right note as they came up with scintillating performance in ‘Suron ki Virasat’
musical programme held at Scientific Society Hall, Laxmi Nagar, on Sunday. The event opened the yearlong silver jubilee celebrations of
AKS.
Immortal songs of SD Burman, RD Burman like ‘Raina biti jaye’, ‘Phaili hui hain sapno ki bahein’, ‘Naam gum jayega’, ‘Tum na jaane’, ‘Rimjhim gire sawan’, ‘Pavan diwani’, ‘Aajkal paon zameen pe’, ‘Do lafzon ki hai’, ‘Chanda hai tu’, ‘Aab to hai tujhse’, ‘Chand fir nikla’, ‘Tune o rangile’, ‘Aao na gale’, ‘Raat akeli hai’, ‘Dum maro dum’ were presented at the programme.
Songs like ‘Tum na jane’ and ‘Aao na gale’ by Manisha Kashikar and ‘Mose chhal’ by Bharti Bhide were greeted with once more appeals.
The 11 students of AKS who performed in the event were Manashree Joshi, Anuradha Joshi, Bharti Bhide, Manisha Kashikar, Anita Lohit, Anjali Thakur, Anita Chitale, Piroz Limaye, Kirti Bokre, Sushmita Mandavgane and Geeta Patki. All the singers did justice to every song they presented which turned the hall into a musical campus.
The singers are students of Smita Joshi, director of AKS, which was founded by Chandrahas Joshi in 1994. All the singers, belonging to age group of 45-60, proved that there is no age limit to learn music. Joint secretary of women’s education society of LAD college Varsha Manohar was the chief guest of the programme.
The singers were ably backed by Parimal Joshi on keyboard, Pankaj Yadav on tabla, Akshay Irale on octopad, Gaurav Tanksale and Pravin Lihitkar on guitar, Sudhir Aamnek on dholak and percussionist Ujjwala Gokarna.
