Sensex drop on global sell-off, Nifty down by 72.80 pts

opened lower on Monday at 37,626.95, down by 242.28. While NSE's hovered around 11,356.70, down by 72.80 points.

Along with auto, and metal names, banks continued to be weak.

Meanwhile, the Indian rupee opened at a low today of 69.47 against the US dollar.

On July 30, the market saw a significant high as the crossed the 37,000 mark. The Sensex soared by 270.62 points, while Nifty reclaimed the 11,000 mark to trade at 11,304.15.
