Centralised management of PCR vans slashed vehicle theft by 30%: Gurugram top cop

Gurugram police commissioner KK Rao on Sunday said that using a centralised system to manage PCR vans and riders has led to a 30% decrease in cases of vehicle thefts.

After Rao took charge as commissioner in June, he centralised the management of PCR vans, which was earlier done by individual police stations.

Rao made the remark while addressing around 850 police officers at an event at police lines on Sunday morning.

The event was attended by Kulvinder Singh deputy commissioner of police (headquarters), Dhaarna Yadav assistant commissioner of police (ACP) (headquarters), Usha Kundu ACP and others senior police officers.

“The main purpose of this programme is to limit the work of police stations to investigation and the work of PCRs and riders to prevention of crime,” the commissioner said.

The police commissioner said that if any person obstructs a policeman on duty, strict action would be taken.

“Police officers should draw satisfaction by providing assistance to people and should help the needy from the heart,” he said.

The commissioner said WhatsApp groups have been formed for better coordination and certificates and cash rewards will also be given to encourage officers who are working well.
