Billiat thankful for Chiefs team-mates' motivation

2018-08-13 13:22

Cape Town - Kaizer Chiefs forward Khama Billiat has paid tribute to his new team-mates, revealing that their motivation helped him score his first goal for the club.

Billiat's late strike put the cherry on top of a convincing performance in Amakhosi's 3-0 MTN8 quarter-final victory over Free State Stars on Saturday. Earlier, Dumisani Zuma and Leonardo Castro had netted for the Glamour boys.

In a video posted by the MTN8 Wafa Wafa! Twitter account, the Zimbabwean reflected on his first Chiefs goal.

"The team-mates always encourage me and you get a good feeling every game when your team-mates always say, 'today you're going to score; today you're going to score'," Billiat said.

"It's encouraging, which means I'm in the right space, and I get worried when I don't miss chances, man - which means I'm far away from scoring goals.

"So every time I miss chances, every game, I'm getting close to scoring, and today I just want to give credit to God for breaking the ice. Hopefully [there will be] many more to come."

Billiat will look to add to his tally when Chiefs return to league action against Baroka at the Peter Mokaba Stadium on Tuesday evening.
