NKDA authorities have earned about Rs 24 crore from property tax, since the new UAA based system was introduced on April 2. Officials said earlier, the last date of self-assessment and submission of property tax for the first quarter was set for June 2. But the deadline was extended till August 2 following requests from several property owners, living abroad or outside the state, stating they needed some more time to learn about the new UAA-based system. However, with similar requests syill coming in, the authorities have further extended the deadline to September 2.
NKDA officials said overall tax collection had been satisfactory, given property owners in New Town started paying only from April. “The response has been positive,” said an official.
