The Zimbabwean star, who was signed in the off-season after his departure from Mamelodi Sundowns, scored his first goal in Chiefs colours as they beat Free State Stars 3-0 in Saturday's MTN8 quarter-final.

Billiat had been heavily linked with a move overseas prior to joining the Glamour Boys and Solinas is thankful that he opted to remain in South Africa.

"For me he is an amazing player. A top player. In my opinion, and I don't want this to be misunderstood as disrespect for other players, he is the best player in the league, the best striker," the Italian was quoted as saying by IOL.

"Billiat, in my opinion, can play in Europe without a problem. This guy is not for this league. He can perform very well in Europe and comfortably."

Solinas added: "It's a privilege for me to be coaching Billiat, and (Leonardo) Castro together."

Castro and Billiat, who formed a formidable partnership at Sundowns, albeit with the help of Keagan Dolly, have been equally impressive together at Chiefs.

The former has scored two goals in his last two appearances, while the latter scored his first goal for Amakhosi against Ea Lla Koto, having picked up the Man-of-the-Match award in their opening league fixture against the Brazilians.

Chiefs will resume their top-flight campaign against Baroka at the Peter Mokaba Stadium on Tuesday evening.
