Former Lok Sabha speaker Somnath Chatterjee passes away at the age of 89. Somnath Chatterjee suffered a cardiac arrest last Tuesday and was admitted to Belle Veu Clinic in Kolkata. He was also suffering from a kidney-related ailment. The former Lok Sabha speaker was not in good health of late and even suffered a haemorrhagic stroke last month and underwent treatment for 40 days. Somnath Chatterjee was a ten-time Lok Sabha MP and was the Speaker of the Lok Sabha from 2004 to 2009.
