NEW DELHI: BJP on Monday said Congress chief Rahul Gandhi’s attack on the Rafale deal was a diversionary tactic due to the heat generated by a case that questioned his and Sonia Gandhi’s ownership of ‘Young India’ and the acquisition of Rs 5,000 crore of assets.

Ravi Shankar Prasad said the assets were acquired with an investment of a mere Rs 50 lakh and with the income tax department rejecting the versions of Sonia and Rahul, the Rafale controversy was “orchestrated” to counter the pressure building up. Prasad emphasised that the court had rejected the pleas of Sonia and Rahul to quash the cases against them and that both were out on bail.
On Rahul challenging Prime Minister
Narendra Modi for a debate on Rafale, Prasad said, “Rahul Gandhi is not worthy to have a debate with the PM.” He reiterated that the government had executed the Rafale deal with complete transparency.
