Justice Jhaveri takes oath as Odisha CJ

Justice Kalpesh Satyendra Jhaveri was on Sunday sworn in as the Chief Justice of Orissa High Court. Governor Prof Ganeshi Lal administered the oath of office to him in a brief ceremony held in the High Court premises here.

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, Finance Minister Sashi Bhusan Behera, Law Minister Pratap Jena, Chief Secretary AP Padhy, DGP RP Sharma and several other officers, including Cuttack Collector Arvind Agarwal, were present.

All judges of the High Court, many former High Court and Supreme Court judges, Advocate General SP Mishra and members of the High Court Bar were also present.

Justice Jhaveri a former Rajasthan High Court judge, was announced as Orissa High Court Chief Justice last week when the post fell vacant upon elevation of Justice Vineet Saran to the Supreme Court.
