These HTC smartphones will receive Android 9.0 Pie update, confirms company

NEW DELHI: Competition in the smartphone segment is intensifying each day and smartphone makers are trying every trick in the book to attract more and more customers. Apart from launching new and affordable devices the companies are now focusing a lot on Android updates as well. Last week Google announced its latest version of Android operating system and since then the smartphone makers are announcing their plans of rolling out Android 9.0 Pie on their smartphones.
Recently, smartphone makers Vivo, Huawei, Sony revealed their plans of rolling out Android 9.0 Pie on their smartphones and now HTC has also decided to join the list. Taiwanese smartphone maker took to Twitter and revealed the name of the devices which will receive Android Pie update. The company has announced that the HTC U12+, HTC U11+, HTC U11, and HTC U11 life (Android One). However, the company has not yet mentioned any timeline for the roll out.
HTC tweeted, “We're pleased as pie to confirm updates to Android Pie for the HTC U12+, U11+, U11, and U11 life (Android One). Timeframes for roll-out will be announced in due course. We can't wait to know what you think of Google's freshest slice of Android!”
Some of the key features Android 9.0 Pie will bring onboard are new system navigation, smart text selection, redesigned quick settings, simplified volume controls, new dashboard, app timer, new Do Not Disturb mode and wind down feature.
Last month, it was reported that smartphone maker HTC is exiting the Indian smartphone market. The top officials of the company including country head Faisal Siddiqui, sales head Vijay Balachandran and product head R Nayyar have resigned from the company. As reported by The Economic Times, the company has asked 70 to 80 member team to leave the company.
