Twitter users are falsely claiming Gujarat floods photos to be from Kerala to target the Left.

New Delhi: Pictures of Rashtriya Swayamsewak Sangh (RSS) workers helping out the flood victims in Kerala are going viral on Twitter. People are shaming the Left saying the RSS is working harder to provide relief to the flood victims in a state that has seen killings of its members due to political violence.

The two tweets here have together received over 1,500 retweets on Twitter.

Kerala is witnessing one of its worst floods since 1924. Around 39 people have died so far.

However, the pictures, although of RSS workers, are not from Kerala. A report said the pictures of RSS workers helping out the victims are from August last year during the Gujarat floods.

People had shared the same images on Facebook last year.

In 2017, severe monsoon rains in Gujarat killed over 200 people.

The RSS, however, is carrying out relief operations in flood-affected Kerala. The verified account of RSS (Friends of RSS) on Twitter posted pictures Monday of its workers helping people in Kerala. The workers can be seen distributing rice, pulses, sugar and medicines to the flood victims.

The difference between the images tweeted by the two mentioned handles and the verified RSS account can be spotted easily.
