SHAHJAHANPUR: Suspecting that his wife was cheating on him, a man
bit her nose off at
Palhora village in the district. This is the third such attack by a man on his wife in the past four months here.
The victim Pooja Jatav, 24, married Arjun
Jatav two years ago. Arjun moved to Delhi to work as a labourer a few months ago while Pooja stayed with her mother-in-law in Palhora. On Friday, Arjun came from Delhi and found Pooja missing after which he filed a missing complaint at the Kaanth police station here. On Sunday evening, Pooja returned home and told her husband that she had gone to visit her cousin brother’s family at a nearby village. Arjun then thrashed her and bit her nose off in an inebriated state. He later brought the unconscious woman to the district hospital.
On regaining consciousness, Pooja told doctors about the attack. An
FIR was subsequently registered against Arjun under IPC sections 323 (voluntarily causing hurt) and 326 (voluntarily causing grievous hurt by dangerous weapons).
Doctors at the district hospital could not reattach the severed nose since the organ was not brought to the facility on time. Emergency medical officer Mohammed Meeraj, said, “The woman was brought to the hospital in a serious condition by her husband. A part of her nose was missing. She is stable now.”
Additional superintendent of police (ASP), city, Dinesh Tripathi, said, “We have registered an FIR on the basis of the complaint filed by the victim. The accused has been sent to jail.”
