TIRUPUR: A 19-year-old labourer from Odisha was murdered here by three other workers from the same state on Friday night, after a quarrel over money.
Police identified the deceased as Bodhia from Kendujhar district in Odisha. He was working in a private spinning mill at
Kunnathur. Bodhia was staying on the mill premises, police said.
Harilal Danasana, 28, from Bargarh district of Odisha was also working and staying in the mill. Harilal had borrowed some money from Bodhia, said a police officer.
A quarrel broke out when Bodhia asked Harilal to return the money he had borrowed. Harilal, who refused to repay the money, beat Bodhia up.
Bodhia told other workers about the incident. This infuriated Harilal, who along with two other labourers, identified as Premananda Sahoo, 23, and Rajib Sahu, 28, both hailing from Balangir district of Odisha, assaulted Bodhia using an iron rod and a cricket stump.
Bodhia, who suffered serious injuries, was rushed to Gobichettipalayam Government Hospital where he was declared brought dead.
