Muthuvel Karunanidhi (June 3, 1924- August 7, 2018) became the second political icon that Tamil Nadu lost after the demise of J Jayalalithaa in December 2016. Much like his AIADMK counterpart, DMK's Karunandihi was a much-loved leader in the southern state of Tamil Nadu, where there is a longstanding tradition of cult following in the realm of politics. Here are some old photos of the man, whose politics and his ability to cobble alliances, will be remembered throughout the country.
