Nagpur: Putting their skill to the hilt, various artistes presented a soulful performance during an
enchanting evening of classical music at Chitnavis Centre, Civil Lines, on Saturday. The
event was organized by
Naadbrahma Shastriya Sangeet Sanstha in memory of Pandit Dattatraya Bodhankar.

The artists who performed at the event were Pramod Deshmukh who started playing flute in 1972 and is an artist at Akashwani, he has also performed at All India Radio (AIR) and Doordarshan. Violin player Shirish Bhalerao an ‘A’ grade artiste at AIR, renowned tabla player Anup Datta and accompanying artistes Ram Khadse (tabla) and Govind Gadikar (harmonium)
The programme commenced with Deshmukh on flute, Bhalerao on violin who presented raga jog which is played during the late evening. The artistes were accompanied by young tabla player Ram Khadse. The fusion (jugalbandi) was a treat to watch.
The splendid performance by the trio was followed by a presentation by Datta from Khairagarh. After delivering successful performances internationally he mesmerized the city audience on Saturday. Datta was accompanied by Govind Gadikar on harmonium who presented teen tal which left the audience contemplated. The programme culminated with the duo’s performance with a deafening applause by the audience.
Khadse who accompanied Deshmukh and Bhalerao is a grandson of Madhavrao Khadse. He has won first prize for tabla solo in All-India multilingual music fest/contest by Akhil Bhartiya Sanskrutik Sangh, Pune, held earlier this year. He will be representing India in the forthcoming 8th Cultural Olympiad of Performing Arts in Dubai.
Today when people are surrounded with music which lacks the cultural and classical touch, such programmes are a relief to the classical music lover. Naadbramha never misses a chance to impress the audience with its spectacular artistes who excel in their art.
