Noida: A 29-year-old man who allegedly indulged in ‘obscene’ online chats with Facebook users posing as Acharya Balkrishna, managing director of Patanjali Ayurved and a close aide of Ramdev, was held on Saturday.
The accused, Mohammed Zeeshan, a resident of Saharanpur, was arrested for making a fake profile of Balkrishna and using indecent phrases in chats with Facebook users who followed the profile. A complaint was filed on July 4 by Pramod Joshi, CEO of Vedik Broadcasting Limited.
An FIR was then lodged under sections 419, 420 , 500 of IPC and Section 66 D of the IT Act against an unknown accused.
Zaheer Khan, inspector, Cyber Cell, told TOI the cell had sought information from Facebook, which took some time to share the IP address of the profile.
SHO, Sector 20 police station, Manish Saxena said the accused works as a contractor for setting up orchards in Saharanpur. “He was at a Maruti Nexa showroom in Sector 10 for some work when we arrested him on Saturday,” he said. TNN
