HYDERABAD: The incessant rain since Friday evening has sent temperatures dipping to new lows in the city and making people crave sunlight. However, any respite is unlikely for another 24 hours due to the impact of a
low-pressure area lying over northwest Bay of Bengal and its neighbourhood.
In the last 24 hours, the lowest temperature of 21.9 degrees Celsius was recorded in the city, which is a 5 degrees Celsius drop in temperature as compared to normal daytime temperatures during this time of the year.
In last 24 hours
Ramagundam recorded 95mm rainfall, Adilabad 64 mm,
Hanamkonda 15mm, Nizamabad 9 mm and Mahbubnagar 1mm rainfall up to 8.30pm on Saturday.
“While rain activity is expected to continue for the next 24 hours over Telangana and parts of coastal Andhra Pradesh, southern parts of Telangana will witness reduced rain activity,” IMD official KS Sridhar said.
Rains remained on the lower side over the past couple of weeks because of west-northwest movement of successive weather systems developing over west central Bay of Bengal, Met officials said. However, over past two days, Telangana has recorded some moderate to heavy isolated rains.
