Offer special pujas and pay obeisance to their forefathers

Hundreds of devotees from various parts of the State took a holy dip at Bhavani Kooduthurai and offered special pujas and paid obeisance to their forefathers on the occasion of Aadi Amavasai here on Saturday.

Right from early morning, devotees gathered in large numbers at Kooduthurai where the River Cauvery is in full flow. They performed rituals for their ancestors and sought their blessings. Barricades were erected in the river and devotees were allowed to take bath only within the barricades. As the flow of water increased during the day, police personnel and members of the temple administration warned the devotees and asked them to be safe in the water. Likewise, devotees assembled at Kodumudi Sangameswarar temple and offered special prayers on the occasion.
