Tanker catches fire

The driver of an oil tanker was killed and the cleaner severely injured after the vehicle rammed a truck carrying eucalyptus logs at Kolanukonda near Mangalagiri on Saturday morning.

Cabin catches fire

DSP, North, Ramakrishna said the tanker driver, identified as Mareppa, was from Kurnool. The tankerwas headed to Rajamahendravaram. The cleaner is battling for his life after being admitted to the NRI Hospital at Mangalagiri.

Soon after the accident, the police and NHAI personnel rushed to the site and when the crane being used to extricate the bodies came in contact with the electrical wires in the engine, the cabin caught fire. The body of the driver was burnt in the incident.

The NDRF personnel later doused the flames using foam.
