RMC, Health Dept coordinate to curb vector borne diseases

The Ranchi Municipal Corporation (RMC) conducted a co-ordination meeting with the officials of Department of Health and Family Welfare here on Saturday to curtail the steep rise in the cases of Dengue and Chikungunya. Members of Lion’s Club were also present during the meeting. State Entomologist, Department of Health and Family Welfare, Shagya Singh interacted with the ward supervisors and explained different ways to them to identify larvae in stagnant water.

After the sudden outbreak of vector-borne diseases here in Capital City, the Municipal Corporation has launched a massive drive in all the 53 wards. With every passing day, cases of Dengue and Chikungunya are being reported from different wards. Nearly, 250 cases of Dengue and Chikungunya have been recorded so far from different parts of the Capital City.

During the meeting, it was decided that alongwith Municipal Corporation, RMSW Essel Infra – the company managing solid waste management service here in State Capital including Lion’s Club will conduct awareness rally and door to door campaign from August 12. Besides, the awareness drive, monitoring forms will be made filled up by the residents.

Further, Deputy Municipal Commissioner, Sanjay Kumar stated that the Civic Body has demarcated a few localities — Hindpiri, Doranda, Chutia, Dipatoli — New Nagar, Pahari Tola and Madhukam for conducting cleanliness drive. “The Municipal Corporation is all prepared to conduct cleanliness drive in a few localities again to destroy larvae of mosquitoes. The ward supervisors have been issued the instructions on how to go about the process,” he added. The officials during the meeting released ward-wise lists of medical officers and details of medical camps.
