Pune’s Purva crumbles in semifinal

Pune: Home favourite Purva Barve failed to handle the pressure as she went down 12-21, 10-21 against  the Malvika Bansod in the semifinal of the Yonex Sunrise India Junior Grand Prix International Badminton Championship, organised in the memory of Late Sushant Chipalkatti at the Modern Sports Complex on Saturday. 

Malvika who had recently won the Senior State badminton title on her debut in Nagpur was in her elements right from the start and did not give any easy points to Purva.
After taking the first game 21-12, Malvika went out all gun blazing in the second set to wrap the contest in the 26 mintues with taking second game 21-10.

In the second semifinal, fourth seeded Aakarshi Kashyap defeated fifth seeded Qi Xuan Eoon of Malaysia 21-16, 12-21, 21-17 in a 55 minutes battle.
