About 10 floodgates of Sripada Yellampalli project in Ramagundam mandal were lifted on Sunday morning to discharge 26,720 cusecs of water following heavy inflows into the project from its catchment areas due to incessant rain.
Against the full reservoir level of 148 metres and storage capacity of 20.175 tmc ft, the authorities are maintaining water level at 147 metres and storage capacity at 17.55 tmc ft. The inflows into the project was 1,27,679 cusecs on Sunday night.

Meanwhile, Peddapalli district received an average of 190.07 mm rainfall on Sunday leaving rivulets, streams and minor irrigation tanks in spate. Following heavy rain, coal production was hampered for the second consecutive day at open cast projects of the Singareni Collieries Company Limited in Godavarikhani.
State SC\ST Commissioner B. R. Meena, who has been deputed by the State government as special officer to review possible floods in Peddapalli, visited the district on Sunday and held a review meeting with officials of the NTPC. Speaking on the occasion, he told the officials to take all necessary measures to avoid loss to mankind and cattle due to flash floods.
He asked the officials to relocate those residing in low-lying areas in the event of floods. He asked the fire services personnel and rescue teams to be ready to meet any eventuality. He instructed the irrigation officials to closely monitor the water levels at all the projects and alert the district administration about the same.
Joint Collector Vanaja Devi, DPO V. Sudarshan, District Animal Husbandry Officer Rajanna, CPO Ravinder and others were also present.
